Our Scientific Advisory Board is comprised of practitioners with decades of experience in integrative and holistic medicine. Our board members come from a variety of disciplines and areas of expertise including women’s health, environmental medicine, cardiovascular health, dermatology, and oncology. These practitioners are an invaluable resource for Gaia Herbs, helping us stay abreast of current issues and developments in the medical community, conducting clinical trials and research studies on Gaia Herbs products, providing consultation and advice on product development, and assisting in our educational efforts through the writing of research articles and serving as speakers at webinars and lectures.

Dr. Majd Isreb serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of Gaia Herbs. He is a Functional Medicine certified provider. He is also a board-certified internist and nephrologist and has been in practice for more than 18 years. He received his medical degree from Damascus University School of Medicine, Syria. He finished his internal medicine residency at Northwestern University affiliated hospitals. His nephrology fellowship was at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. In addition to his clinical practice, he also serves as an assistant professor at Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, Washington State University. Dr. Isreb has been alarmed by the rising prevalence of kidney disease in the US and the world, so he founded Integrative Kidney Institute where he is the medical director. As part of his mission to end the CKD epidemic, he champions treatments of kidney disease that apply an individualized Integrative Medicine approach. Ecologically Harvested is a term that describes all herbs sold by Gaia Herbs that are not Certified Organic. Ecologically Harvested herbs include herbs that are harvested in their natural habitat, (i.e., wild harvested) according to specific guidelines for harvesting these herbs (i.e., away from roads and industry, as well as guidelines to avoid overharvesting). Our term, Ecologically Harvested, also includes herbs that are grown in managed woodland areas, fields designated for specific herbs, and herbs that are grown by indigenous growers, such as Kava Kava. All Ecologically Harvested herbs pass pesticide and heavy metal testing as well as microbial testing, prior to release.
