This presentation will address key phases related to both a woman’s fertile years and her menopausal years. In the fertile years, supporting optimal pregnancy during the months prior to conception, supporting regular ovulation and attending to egg quality are all vital aspects of preconception and pregnancy. In the perimenopausal/menopausal years, we will focus on quality of life and symptom management with botanicals.

Botanicals discussed include Chaste tree, Rhodiola, Tribulus, Red raspberry, Maca, Black cohosh, St. John’s wort, Valerian and Kava.

About the Presenter:
Tori Hudson, ND, graduated from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) in 1984 and has since served the college in several capacities including: Medical Director, Associate Academic Dean and Academic Dean. She is currently a clinical professor at NCNM, Bastyr University and Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. Dr. Hudson has over 30 years of experience and expertise in women’s health utilizing nutrition, nutraceuticals, botanical medicines, bioidentical hormones and other therapies to treat all gynecological and primary care conditions in women. She serves as medical director of her clinic, “A Woman’s Time” in Portland, Oregon, and is also the Program Director for the Institute of Women’s Health and Integrative Medicine as well as the Director of Research, Development and Education for Vitanica.

Dr. Hudson’s exemplary work in women’s health has earned her many prestigious awards including the President’s Award from the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians for her research in women’s health, the Naturopathic Physician of the Year Award, the NCNM Alumni Pioneer Award, and the Natural Products Association 2009 Pioneer Award. She is a nationally recognized lecturer, author, researcher and clinician, and serves on several editorial boards and advisory panels. Her book, Women’s Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine, 2008 edition is the leading resource on women’s health and natural medicine.

Ecologically Harvested is a term that describes all herbs sold by Gaia Herbs that are not Certified Organic. Ecologically Harvested herbs include herbs that are harvested in their natural habitat, (i.e., wild harvested) according to specific guidelines for harvesting these herbs (i.e., away from roads and industry, as well as guidelines to avoid overharvesting). Our term, Ecologically Harvested, also includes herbs that are grown in managed woodland areas, fields designated for specific herbs, and herbs that are grown by indigenous growers, such as Kava Kava. All Ecologically Harvested herbs pass pesticide and heavy metal testing as well as microbial testing, prior to release.
